May 27 – “Hidden Photos” – Dawn is featured on Fox 11 WLUK TV “Living with Amy” show. She talks to viewers about getting all those treasured photos out of storage, and how to use them to add a personal decorating touch to a home. She gives ideas on how to go about organizing and hanging a grouped photo display on a wall. Dawn also shares many different ways on how she has displayed photos in several rooms of her home. May 19 – “Going Green” – Amy Hanten, from Fox 11 WLUK TV “Living with Amy” show, features Dawn Koehler’s gardens on her outdoor entertaining program. Dawn talks about her “green ways” in her yard and gardens. She shares with viewers how her interest in growing plants began as a young girl. She also speaks of how her childhood memories inspire her to grow the things she does. View clip below.

May 18 – Women magazine – For and about women in Northeast Wisconsin. Dawn Koehler is a feature in this issue of Women magazine in the “It’s Her Business” section. The article talks about how Dawn has designed her dream job by inspiring and teaching others how to create things that give them great pleasure and satisfaction. Several images printed in the article showing Dawn’s work include: her garden, beadwork, and cookie designs (as shown below).

     

March 29 – “Natural Egg Dyeing”–“Living with Amy” from Fox 11 WLUK TV, features Dawn Koehler showing viewers how to dye eggs naturally using materials such as vegetables, onion skins, herbs, and wine. She talks about cold and hot dyes, how to make different shades of the same color, how herbs can create interesting patterns on eggs, and she’ll show you several ways to display beautifully dyed eggs. January 18 – Interview with Kitty Lynne Klich, producer and host of “Gallery Works.” “Gallery Works” is a community cable TV program sponsored by Plymouth Arts Center, Plymouth, WI, which is devoted to the promotion of Wisconsin artists working in a wide variety of media. During this interview, Dawn talks about the history of the “barkcloth fabric” and how she has collected this vintage fabric to create décor in her home and jewelry type items. She shows several samples of her work including a full size quilt that her and her mother have made from this cloth.

January 18 – “Rag Bead” making demonstration with Kitty Lynne Klich, producer and host of “Gallery Works.” “Gallery Works” is a community cable TV program sponsored by Plymouth Arts Center, Plymouth, WI, which is devoted to the promotion of Wisconsin artists working in a wide variety of media. Dawn shows Kitty and her viewers how she designs “rag beads” from scraps of vintage barkcloth fabric, and how she uses them to embellish her unique one-of-a-kind chokers.

2009

April 6 – Dawn is a guest on Fox 11 WLUK TV “Living with Amy” show. She features four Easter egg tree designs decorated with egg shaped cookies and hand-made ornaments. Dawn demonstrates how she creates some of her ornaments and how she uses them to embellish her trees. View clip below.



January – Dawn was a first place winner of the 2008 Taste of Home Cookies Contest. This was a national event with more than 1000 entries. Her intricate 3D snowflake cookie, shown below, placed first in the three-dimensional category. Dawn designed this elegant 3D snowflake cookie using white royal icing, white non-pareils, and edible white pearls. This winning cookie was published in the January 2009 issue of Taste of Home.




2008

December 17 – Dawn and her husband, Scot, were awarded a “Meticulous Maintenance Award” by the City of Appleton and its Mayor. Their time and hard work, as shown below, reinforces the belief that neighborhood pride contributes to a healthier quality of life; making Appleton not just a city, but a community.
